Happy Valentine’s Day!

This Valentine’s Day give yourself a gift! Make a healthy decision to protect your own heart! February is national heart health month.

Heart disease is the leading killer in the USA.  According to the CDC, about 600,000 people in the USA die every year from heart disease, or 1 in 4 Americans. This is a scary statistic; however, it is not all grim because heart disease is preventable!

Take the first step towards better heart health by realizing you can make more healthful decisions! Then follow the link below to the CDC’s website on ways to take more steps to becoming more heart healthy.

Healthcare providers, set good examples for your patients and also take it upon yourself to inform your patients on how to be more heart healthy!

Remember, you can only give love to your loved ones this Valentine’s Day if you, yourself are around. We only have one heart so it’s important that we do everything we can to maintain it in order to give love!

I would love for a speaker to dicssus some of the better evaluations available to OTs, especially in the school setting. Is the MVPT or the TVPS a better assessment. When the child is too old for the SFA what is a good test to use to assess life skills in school in a standardized way? Few OTs use the SIPT in school, but the Sensory Profile is so subjective, is there a better sensory assessment to use in the school setting especially with older students? There are numerous options for the little ones but I need something for middle school and older.Thank you so muchChristin
